The GT-R is what happens when you give stylist's and engineers complete freedom to create a car.
We have to talk about how this thing looks. That is a proper sports car with the two seats, spoiler, long bonnet and massive grill. All the vents on the front and sides of the car are there for a reason as they are real vents to cool down the engine and brakes and improve aerodynamics.
This car is extremely powerful with 585bhp and 700Nm of torque. You might get more power in the likes of a BMW M5 or Audi RS6 but the GT-R weighs so much less. The engine is a 4.0L V8 with two turbo's which power the rear wheels to launch the car from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. For just rear-wheel-drive, you could have a lot of fun with the power it puts down.
This car handles extremely well, it is perfect to take on a track. In fact, Mercedes actually use a version of this car for their open racing series. The V8 sounds amazing too and although it has a rev limiter, it still sounds really good. Mercedes always do well with their interiors, this one literally looks like a cockpit with all the buttons you can press and the seats really do hug you which is great for when you are going round corners at speed. If I had to make a complaint about this car, it would be about its practicality.
A high-end Mercedes is never cheap and this is no exception. A brand new one of these will cost you between £150,000 and £190,000 which is a lot of money but you can pick up a used one for around £100,000. It sounds the part, looks the part and drives fantastically, what is there not to love?
You can actually get behind the wheel of a Mercedes AMG GT at Mercedes Benz world in Surrey for an experience session. Although, it won't be as thrilling as the GT-R, you would get a very good idea of how high performing this car is.
My honest opinion of this car is that it would definitely benefit with four-wheel-drive and a little bit more power. I suppose the power side of it is why the black series version exists though. Overall, a fantastic car and definitely something to consider if you are looking for a new super car.
