Porsche 911 GT3

Every man dreams of owning a Porsche, the name itself holds so much weight that it doesn't even really matter which Porsche it is. This one, however, is much closer to the higher end vehicles that you can purchase and with that, you get a whole lot of car. Yes, there is a GT3RS but that is heavily track-focused (yet road-legal) and I would rather write about the regular GT3 which is still outstanding.

The reason I said every man 'dreams' of owning a Porsche is because only the upper-class can afford them. This motor is no exception with prices starting from £146,400! The German manufacturer are keen to make each GT3 unique as there are literally hundreds of customisation and specification options. Interestingly, the GT3 can actually increase in value depending on your spec as there is a very long waiting list to get hold of one of these cars. I can't actually find a used one for less than £160,000!

Porsche pride themselves as a luxurious and performance based brand and every aspect of this car shows it. The GT3 looks phenomenal as standard or with the touring package which withdraws the spoiler. It is definitely a fine successor to the rich history of the 911. You can ignore the fact that the car isn't the most comfortable thing in the world because there is nothing that can dampen the way it makes you feel when you drive it.

Although it is a 'lesser' performance car than the GT3RS, it still is an absolute weapon on the race-track. From the engine to the aerodynamics, gearbox and weight; they have improved everything over its predecessor. I won't focus on the technical aspects too much as nobody will really understand unless they're an engineer - in that case you will probably know more than I do. All of these improvements helped to decrease its Nürburgring lap time by approximately 18 seconds, which in racing is an astronomical difference.

The 911 992 GT3 has a perfected, naturally aspirated 4.0L F6 engine. It produces 503BHP and 470Nm of torque. All that power is driven by the rear wheels to launch the car from 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and it has a top speed of 198mph. Straight line speed, although fast, wasn't the focus for this car as Porsche have engineered it to be quicker going round the corners. There is a choice for a manual gearbox or a brilliant PDK automatic system. Unfortunately, this version of the GT3 is most likely going to be the last one with an internal combustion engine but at least it has gone out in style!
