Vauxhall Mokka

- Vauxhall Mokka -

The Mokka has been around for just over a decade now and in 2021, it became what it is today. It was a fantastic upgrade and Vauxhall, like many other manufacturers, have really upped their game for style. This small SUV is one of the best looking (in my opinion) in its class and that usually isn't somewhere Vauxhall tend to be. Even the interior looks great which you can see in a picture below.

There are a few variations, you can have an EV version which starts from around £36,500 and can go up to around £41,500 depending on your specification. Speaking of which, there are three and they are very well specified compared to some of its competitors. It has 135bhp and 260Nm of torque so by no means is it quick but as the power is instant, you still get nice acceleration. On paper, the EV gets 209 miles on a full charge which isn't very good but will suffice if you don't do much driving.

You also have the option to purchase a petrol Mokka which will set you back between £25,000 to £33,000 depending on your specification. You can also get a manual or automatic transmission which is good for manual lovers. Like the EV variation's, the petrol version has 3 specifications which are very well equipped even from the entry grade. You get up to 135bhp and 230Nm of torque from the engine and it can get up to 60mph in less than 10 seconds which is the same as the EV.

Behind the drivers seat, there are a couple of negative points to discuss. The rear passengers don't have a huge amount of leg and head room and even the seats will feel very compact together. You definitely wouldn't be able to fit three adults comfortably but this is quite common for small SUV's. Boot space is also limited with up to 350L of storage which is on the lesser side compared to other vehicles in the segment. Lastly, the automatic gearbox in the petrol specification is not very good as it is a bit jerky when going up the gears.

Overall, the Mokka is a fantastic small SUV. The exterior is very good looking and the interior matches it which gives it a few extra points. Each version of the car, even form the entry spec, is very well equipped with technology. You also get a choice of gearbox, engine or EV which is great as some other brands do not have this and it is always nice to have a choice. If you are in the market for a small SUV, the Mokka might be the one for you.
