Mercedes AMG GT63

With some of the new Mercedes AMG models now being produced as hybrid vehicles (much to the disappointment of AMG lovers), everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they announced their latest model, the GT63 AMG.

This new model boasts a brilliant 4.0L V8 BiTurbo engine which is familiar territory for the performance division as that's what was in most of the recent AMG models including the GT-R. The hand-built engine has a power output of 580bhp and 800Nm of torque and it is driven by all four wheels to a top speed of 194mph. It is fast off the line too, with a staggering 0-60 time of just 3.2 seconds.

Credit where credit is due to the design team: It is physically impossible to disagree with the fact that the GT63 is a good looking car. It has a sporty aesthetic from bumper to bumper with the lovely AMG grill to it's quad-exhaust. The most impressive thing is that the engineers have done all their aerodynamic work alongside their weight saving and it still looks beautiful.

With the recent release of the new Aston Martin Vantage and Porsche teasing us with a new 911, Mercedes had to stay competitive and this is a brilliant comeback. We are expecting the GT63 to be priced from £165,000 up towards £180,000 for a top spec. There are actually four seats in the car but just like the 911, the unlucky people in the back will need to be about 4ft tall to be comfortable. Sports cars aren't built for comfort, they are built to drive fast and have fun.

The interior is well up-to-date with top spec models having every bell and whistle you can think of. Just like all modern Mercedes, it has some tasteful ambient lighting and huge screen for your climate controls and entertainment. Carbon fibre features all over the place for the sporty aesthetic and the new AMG steering wheel is absolutely gorgeous! There's a full digital drivers display, upgraded speakers and even a sunroof! It really is well designed, well done Mercedes AMG.
